Why I Am Running
Running for mayor was not a decision I made lightly. It came from listening, learning, serving, and working, both inside and outside of government, and recognizing that our community deserves leadership that understands how policy decisions play out in real life.
I am running because I believe effective local government requires more than good intentions. It requires education, real-world experience, and a genuine commitment to serving others.
Education That Shaped How I Think
My educational background laid the foundation for how I approach leadership and problem-solving. Earning dual bachelors degrees in Political Science and Economics from UW-Madison taught me to look at policy not just as an idea on paper, but as a system with real-world consequences.
Education gave me the tools to ask better questions:
How is this policy funded?
Who bears the cost?
What are the unintended consequences?
Does this decision actually solve the problem it claims to address?
Those questions matter at the local level, where decisions directly affect residents’ daily lives - from housing costs to infrastructure to public services.
Experience That Connects Policy to Reality
Beyond the classroom, my professional experience has shaped how I see government’s role in a community. I have worked in business, development, construction, and nonprofit leadership - spaces where decisions must be practical, fiscally responsible, and results-driven.
In these roles, I’ve seen firsthand:
How regulatory decisions impact housing affordability
How delays and inefficiencies increase costs
How strong economic development supports community stability
How thoughtful planning can either enable growth or hold it back
I have also worked within government, giving me insight into how public systems function and where they often struggle. That combination of public and private sector experience allows me to bridge the gap between policy goals and implementation.
A Commitment to Service
At the heart of my decision to run is a belief that leadership is service. Whether through community organizations, youth mentorship, or volunteerism, my involvement has always been rooted in helping others succeed.
Serving the community means showing up, listening, and being accountable, even when the conversations are hard. It means prioritizing long-term community health over short-term political wins. And it means making decisions based on what works, not what sounds good.
The priority of my service here in Fitchburg is for the people in the community. I will show up day after day to ensure the community as a whole is put first. This election is not about me - it’s about every single one of my Fitchburg neighbors.
Why This Combination Matters
Education without experience can lead to idealism without results. Experience without service can lose sight of people. Service without preparation can fall short of impact.
I believe the strength of my candidacy lies in the combination of all three:
Education that provides analytical clarity
Experience that ensures practical, informed decision-making
Service that keeps people at the center of every choice
I have seen firsthand, the impact of politicians who don’t have one or more of these pillars, and it has real-life consequences. I find that my experience being a business owner, and in executive leadership has shaped the way I view many decisions. Especially fiscal ones. When you own or run your own business, every dollar that comes in is not guaranteed - you have to earn it. And spending even a penny has to be taken with extreme care, because your next dollar might not come.
However, more often than not politicians treat tax dollars as expected, and dollars are spent as if there will always be another one.
It is my goal to treat every tax dollar as if it was mine, and take the time to ensure every dollar spent is done with care.
Looking Forward
I am running for mayor because I care deeply about this community and believe it deserves leadership that is prepared, engaged, and grounded in reality. I want to bring a fresh focus - one that emphasizes accountability, affordability, and sustainable growth - while respecting the values that make our city a great place to live.
This campaign is not about titles or politics. It is about service, responsibility, and building a stronger future together.
That is why I am running.
